Kelling Heath - Is located amongst 250 acres of woodland and heathland in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty close to the North Norfolk coastline at Weybourne.
The majority of Kelling Heath lies on a feature known as the Cromer Ridge formed during the last ice age. The Park falls within the North Norfolk area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and borders Kelling Heath itself, which is an extensive tract of lowland heathland designated as a site of special scientific interest. Arable fields and two Forestry Commission woodland complete the surrounding area. In developing a commercially viable destination, our aim was to do so in sympathy with the environment whilst educating our guests' and visiting organisations. In developing the infrastructure and facilities consideration has been given to those with disabilities despite the environmental constraints of the location.
Brochure - The Kelling Heath brochure advises that sections of it are available in large print. These relate to accommodation and touring, tariffs, how to book and booking conditions, and are available on request by calling 01263 588181. The brochure is also available to view or download from our website.
Website - The Kelling Heath website is compliant for those with visual impairment. Please visit www.kellingheath.co.uk
General Description - Within the 250 acres Kelling Heath provides pitches for private holiday homes which can be purchased, pitches for touring caravans and tents and a small number of holiday hire caravans and lodges.
A range of facilities centred on the Village Square are available and an activity and entertainment package is provided.
Sound environmental management of the woodland and heathland habitat is of primary importance and the park has been developed in a way that is sensitive to and in keeping with the environment. For example, away from the Village Square and its facilities, roads and paths are typical of a natural woodland and heathland location and may not be suitable for those with disabilities.
Touring Pitches - Are located in three areas on flat level grassland. Pitches can be made available close to the amenity buildings two of which (Yellow and Blue) have a disabled facility with access controlled via a RADAR key. Parking is available beside pitches.
Holiday Hire Homes & Lodges - The Woodland Lodges are the most spacious accommodation available at Kelling Heath. Temporary wheelchair access ramps can be made available to most of the Holiday Homes and Lodge accommodation upon request. Parking is available beside the units.
Arrival - A drop off lay by is close to the main reception whilst parking bays are available in the main car park. Access to the Reception Office is level with no ramps.
Because of the remote rural location of Kelling Heath there is no public transport available to the Park entrance. We are able to provide details of local taxi firms who may be able to assist with transport.
Facilities - The main core facilities at Kelling Heath centre on the Village Square. Access to the Square is level.
Village Store - Ramp access is available to the Store. A delivery service for those with disabilities is available on request.
The Forge
The
Forge & Terrace Bars can offer table service and large print menus on

Access
to the lower terrace, pool tables and Family Fun Centre is via a ramp.
Bracken's - Has level access and can offer table service and

Health & Fitness Club and Outdoor Pool - Access to the Health & Fitness Club and Outdoor
Pool is level with no ramps. Corridors
are spacious and well lit.
The
Health & Fitness Club has a disabled changing room and a chair lift providing
access to and from the main pool.
There is a raised area within the Fitness Studio
where a ramp is provided.
The Health & Fitness Club is fully accredited with
the IFI (Inclusive Fitness Initiative), their aim being "To make Fitness
inclusive to all". A full accessibility audit was undertaken to determine the
needs of the Leisure Club and its facilities in order to meet the IFI standards.
The fitness studio equipment has been upgraded to
improve accessibility and signage around the complex has been improved.
The Leisure Staff have undertaken a CYQ (Central
YMCA Qualification) in Inclusive health, fitness and disability which enables
the gym instructors to assist and develop training programmes for people with a
wide range of disabilities.
There is level access to the outdoor pool and guests' may use the changing room in the Health & Fitness club.
Activities - The Park is one of five key disabled access sites in the area of Outstanding Natural Beauty through a partnership with the Norfolk Coast Project. It enjoys an easy access trail giving less able bodied people the opportunity to experience the heathland habitat and views across the North Sea from an interpretation point.
Due to the woodland and heathland habitat some of the activities may be unsuitable for those with disabilities. Staff at Guest Services or a member of the Countryside Team will be pleased to offer further advice.
Emergency Service - There is a 24 hour emergency telephone service
available on park. Our reception is open from 8am until 8pm and after this time
the Duty Manager can be contacted through the Forge facility until 11pm.
A
defibrillator is located in the Village
Square which a number of staff have been trained to
operate.
Wheelchairs
are available by prior request.
Mobile
phone coverage is available at Kelling Heath.
A
number of key staff at Kelling Heath have attended a course in Accessibility
Awareness and we aim to provide a comprehensive service.
