Kelling Heath Visitors Charter
Wherever we go and whatever we do we have an impact on the environment.
Here are just 5 small steps which go a long way to making a difference...
Reduce, Re-use and Recycle!
Say 'No' to waste when you buy your products, re-use carrier bags, buy fruit and vegetables loose and only buy what you will use on your holiday. For any waste produced Kelling Heath has teamed up with Pearsons to achieve an 85% recycling rate.
Stay Local, Eat Local, Buy Local and See Local
Supporting local businesses helps to keep North Norfolk's unique character. Details of the local markets and establishments can be found in Guest Services and your welcome pack. If you want something local to take home with you, try our ‘Naturally Norfolk' section in the Village Store.
Give the car a rest - walk, cycle or hop on the bus!
If you fancy a change of scenery from the stunning heathland and woodland of the Park, some of the best views and sights in are often seen away from the roads. Why not give your car a rest and explore the countryside on foot, bike or use public transport. For information and suggestions on great days out try our ‘Top Ten Places to Visit in Norfolk' as voted by our guests or ask in Guest Services.
Respect nature and the local community
Help us to look after our environment for future generations by guarding against fire, taking litter with you and using footpaths and cycle ways responsibly. We work hard to maintain the unique natural environment here at Kelling Heath and you can help us by following the park rules.
Be energy and water wise!
Energy and water saving initiatives on park include solar water heating, rainwater harvesting and low energy bulbs. We also deliberately do not provide external lighting outside of the main areas, enabling you to enjoy the night skies as well as saving energy. This is why we suggest you bring a torch!
Further energy savings can be made with your help. Turn lights off when they are not needed, keep windows closed when the heating is on and if you are in a tent, don't heat it when it is unoccupied as the heat escapes as quickly as you create it!
Water can be saved in turning the tap off when brushing your teeth, fill a washing bowl for dishes rather than using a running tap and use full loads in washing machines and dishwashers.
Please enjoy your holiday and with your help we promise to do all we can to look after our special environment for your next visit!
