68 Miles In 1 Day. Andrews Epic Run For Charity

Starting at our Head Office in Meridian Way, Norwich at sunrise on Tuesday 21st June (4.31am), he'd make his way to Kelling Heath via Mill House, Bradwell and Woodhill Park, East Runton, aiming to complete his 68 mile journey in just under 17 hours, hoping to arrive at Kelling Heath by sunset (9.23pm).

At the break of dawn, Andrew started off under a rising sun, strongly heading towards Bradwell on the East Coast of Norfolk. At the half way point, Andrew had reached the lovely seaside town of Hembsy and then ran into Woodhill Park in the early evening. Passing iconic landmarks, such as the Happisburgh lighthouse, Andrew’s route took him across multiple different terrains.

And at 7:22pm, Andrew ran into to the Village Square at Kelling Heath, still smiling, to a warm welcome from staff and customers, completing the 68 miles in a fantastic time of just over 14 hours! After a well deserved drink and meal, Andrew was grateful to not have to run back to get his car in Norwich!

Andrew Shorthose, Deputy Park Manager at Kelling Heath, commented, "Thank you for all the support, with so many people enjoying our beautiful Norfolk coast, it’s reassuring to know the RNLI are there to help keep people safe."

Ben Black, Fundraising and Partnerships Lead – North & East Region for the RNLI, stated, “The entire RNLI family thanks Andrew for his tremendous achievement to raise funds for the RNLI, we are the charity that saves lives at sea and the money raised enables us to be there when the unexpected happens. Through his efforts Andrew has become a lifesaver too! – Thank you”.

All the team at Blue Sky Leisure are proud of Andrew’s achievement and the company will donate £1,000 and match any additional donations to a maximum of £2,500 overall. If you’d like to donate, please click here.
