The nature-inspired celebration marked the official opening of the park’s newly refurbished Red Squirrel enclosure and brought together families, holiday guests and wildlife enthusiasts for a packed programme of activities celebrating the park’s natural environment..
One of the highlights of the weekend was the official unveiling of the new Red Squirrel habitat on Saturday 6th June. Designed and built in collaboration with local specialists Thaxters Timber & Forestry, the enclosure was created to provide enhanced space for climbing, enrichment and natural behaviours. Guests gathered to watch the park’s much-loved resident squirrels explore their new home for the first time.
Across the weekend, visitors enjoyed a range of immersive activities, including pond dipping sessions, a squirrel-themed scavenger hunt, nature-inspired crafts, self-guided trails and opportunities to meet Kelling Heath’s Countryside Team and learn more about native wildlife conservation.
Award-winning chainsaw carver Arnie Barton also proved a popular attraction, creating a striking live Red Squirrel sculpture from raw timber using traditional carving techniques. Completed live during the event, the sculpture will remain on display at the park.
