Summer 2018 events for the whole family
North Norfolk is a stunning part of the world.
With sun, sea, and sand, it makes for the perfect family staycation. Not only are we surrounding by beautiful scenery and magnificent coastline, we are only a short distance away to some of the county’s top family events ranging from festivals to concerts. We’ve picked out the top things to see and do whilst staying at Kelling this summer.
Festivals
Cromer Festival, Saturday 11th - 18th Aug Nearby Cromer comes alive with the sound of fun, laughter and music every summer at the Cromer Festival. This 700-year-old traditional annual event is a must-see if you’re visiting us. With plenty of entertainment and activities for the whole family to enjoy throughout the week, grab some fish & chips and make sure you do not miss the Grand Fireworks and Red Arrows displays over the seafront. World Pier Crabbing Championships, Sunday 26th August This August Bank Holiday head down to Cromer for the annual World Crabbing Competition. Organised by the Cromer and Sheringham Crab and Lobster Festival, the event welcomes everyone to take part for their chance to win the title of World Champion. Enter as a team or individual competitor and challenge yourself to try and catch the most crabs (or the biggest crab!) off the famous Cromer Pier. More information here.
North Norfolk Food Festival, Saturday 1st - Sunday 2nd September Food lovers can enjoy the taste of Norfolk at the North Norfolk Food Festival at Holkham Hall. Treat your taste buds to a great range of local produce including local seafood, cheese, puddings and much more. Along with the many stalls of food and drink, wander around the walled gardens and catch a glimpse of the ever-popular cookery theatre whilst the children enjoy their own food-related activities. Concerts & Shows
Lionel Richie at Holkham Hall, Sunday 24th June Dance ‘All Night Long’ to the incredible Lionel Richie. Bringing his 'All the Hits’ UK tour to the North Norfolk coast, this open-air concert at the historic Holkham Hall will feature top hits from Lionel's extensive and much-loved repertoire such as 'Easy', 'Truly', 'Dancing on the Ceiling', 'Say You Say Me' and 'Hello'. Royal Norfolk Show, 27th – 28th June Celebrate Norfolk at the Royal Norfolk Show, the county’s biggest event of the year. Perfect for a family day out, experience and enjoy all things Norfolk, from fantastic food and drink to shopping, horticulture and live events. The Grand Ring is home to fantastic entertainment including the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team and Adrenaline Tour Quad Bike Stunt Show. More information here.
Open-air cinema, 29th – 30th June This summer, The Luna Cinema is transforming the beautiful grounds of the county estate at Holkham Hall into Norfolk’s most exciting open-air cinema setting. Boasting stunning views, families can take in the stunning scenery with a picnic before an evening of classic cinema under the stars. Films include Pretty Woman and Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. More information here.
Classic Ibiza at Blickling Hall, Friday 10th August Enjoy listening to the classic soundtrack of Ibiza in the spectacular grounds of Blickling Estate. Sit back and enjoy a drink or two, as the Urban Soul Orchestra conducted by Stephen Hussey returns to perform classic Ibiza anthems under the stars, with live DJ and vocalists.
