Wild Sky Weekend

Ever gazed up and wondered what lies beyond the clouds?

In October 2025, we held our very first Wild Sky Weekend, a one-of-a-kind family adventure set in the heart of North Norfolk’s beautiful countryside at Kelling Heath Holiday Park. This special event celebrated the untamed beauty of the skies above – from cloud-watching by day to stargazing by night – in one of the most naturally magical locations in the region.

Top Tips

Whether you’re drawn to the mysteries of the cosmos or simply love the serenity of a starry night, stargazing is a wonderful way to connect with the universe. If you’re just starting out, here are some essential tips to help you make the most of your celestial adventures.

Wrap up warm – The nights can get surprisingly cold, especially when you’re standing still. Layer up with warm clothes, bring a blanket, and consider a thermos of hot chocolate to keep cosy.

Use a Red Torch – White light can ruin your night vision, making it harder to see faint stars and celestial objects. A red torch (or a torch with a red filter) preserves your night vision while still letting you see your surroundings.

Bring Binoculars – You don’t need a telescope to enjoy stargazing. A good pair of binoculars can reveal craters on the Moon, Jupiter’s moons, and even distant star clusters.

Be Patient & Stay Curious – Stargazing is a slow, peaceful activity. Take your time, enjoy the quiet, and let your curiosity guide you. The more you learn, the more rewarding it becomes.

✨ Bonus Tip: Keep a stargazing journal to record what you see, the conditions, and any thoughts or questions that come to mind. It’s a great way to track your progress and deepen your connection with the night sky.
