Kelling Heath Finalist in National Tourism Award
Up against top tourism businesses from Derbyshire, Cumbria and Devon, the 250-acre holiday park near Holt is the only finalist from the east of England in its category; the Sustainable Tourism Award, which commends tourism businesses with a commitment to the environment and sustainable best practices.
The awards ceremony will be held at the Athena venue in Leicester on Tuesday 22 May 2012, and the best of English tourism, including representatives from Kelling Heath, will be in attendance.
Nicola Badley, Environmental Officer, explained why Kelling Heath had been recognised for the Sustainable Tourism Award: “We’ve invested in a wide range of eco-features all aimed at helping to reduce the park’s carbon footprint. These include two rainwater harvesting systems, solar panels on all three touring facilities, waste reduction and recycling schemes as well as a bio-diesel processor.”
Kelling Heath also boasts a dedicated countryside team which cares for the natural environment and organises related activities for guests, making it unique amongst the holiday parks in Britain.
Michael Timewell, Director of Blue Sky Leisure, said: “The work we do at Kelling Heath to conserve the natural environment is a vital part of the ethos of our business. To be finalists of such a prestigious national award, that recognises the very best of English Tourism, is testament to our dedication and hard work. The team at Kelling Heath is committed to maintaining a sustainable environment for visitors and wildlife alike, and to protect it for future generations to enjoy.”
Commenting on the finalists James Berresford, VisitEngland’s Chief Executive said “I would like to congratulate all those nominated as VisitEngland Awards for Excellence finalists this year. This is no small achievement in a year when we have received a record number of submissions. The quality of submissions this year has been outstanding and Kelling Heath Holiday Park can justifiably take credit and pride in earning a place in the top 5 in their category in England. I wish everyone all the best for the final in May”.
The awards recognise businesses that incorporate best practice throughout their organisation, celebrating the very best quality and innovation, helping to raise standards across the industry and secure England’s place as a world-class holiday destination.
Kelling Heath’s latest success follows on from their recent accolade in the Alan Rogers Awards, where the park was named as runner up in the Country Award category, making it one of the best country campsites in Europe.Back To Listings
