Kelling Heath is steeped in history; all around are clues about how the landscape has been shaped, both in natural ways and by human kind. Along the way are several stops where there are things to see and do. You will find out about the wildlife here at Kelling Heath and the special relationships between humans, plants, animals and their environment. The trail is just less than 2 ½ miles (4km); it should take you about 1 1/2 hours, starting and finishing in the Village Square.
2009 Saw the 25th Anniversay of the ownership of Kelling Heath by the Timewell Family.
During this time a significant amount of time and resources have been invested to enhance the visitor experience of the park and to help protect and preserve this unique natural environment for future generatons to enjoy.
Launched in mid May 2009 this circular trail explores some of natural and built environments at Kelling Heath and explains what impact our interventions have made over the past 25 years. Guests will be able to walk the 2 mile route following the pink way markers and directions from this self -guided leaflet and the interpretation along the trail which should take about two hours to complete.
Launched in 2010 the new tree trail explores 25 different species of trees on a circular route round Kelling Heath aided by a self guide leaflet .The trail is part of the 25 year celebrations at Kelling Heath and sees a tree for every year of ownership by the Timewell family. A mix of existing and newly planted trees will make up the trail.
Easy Access Walk
This easy access trail starts just beyond the village square at the sculpture and is identified by its red way marker. This delightful circular route covers ¾ km of level but natural ground taking in an area of rare lowland heathland habitat which supports rare species such as the Silver-Studded Blue Butterfly which was successfully re-introduced onto the heath following a joint venture with the Norfolk Wildlife Trust, Butterfly Conservation and Natural England in 2004.
Kelling Heath seeks to preserve and maintain this precarious environment by careful management of scrub removal and grazing of animals in order for it not to return to woodland.
The trail continues past a solid viewing point with magnificent views of the Weybourne coastline, and overlooking our resident flock of Welsh Mountain sheep who are representative of traditional heathland grazing.
A woodland eco-gym for adults.
You will find the start of the Trim Trail, through the double wooden gates leading off from the main drive.
Follow the grey way markers around the
trail which take you through broad leaved and conifer woodlands and finishes at
our conservation pond.
Along the route you will find the following apparatus to test your strength; Parallel Bars, Hurdles, Step Ups, Balance Beam, Pull up bars, Rope Climb, Leap Frog, Russian Rings, Hurdles, Dual Ab Bench, Wobbly Balance Beam, Back Curl, Log Run.

The Poppy Line
The North Norfolk Railway has a steam railway line between Sheringham and Holt, part of which borders the park. On the north edge of the park is the Kelling Heath Halt, a platform where you can board the trains. However, the steam train cannot stop when the train is going from Sheringham to Holt because the incline is too steep for the train to get moving again! It's a great experience to have a ride on the restored steam trains. A timetable is available from reception. Find out more on www.nnr.co.uk. A booklet containing several walks of varying lengths, starting at Kelling Heath and incorporating a ride on the Poppy Line into part of the journey, is available from reception.
